Process for roofing and walls…
ROOF PROCESS
PROCESS FOR WORK ON TILED ROOFS
- Roofs get checked for any broken and cracked tiles. These are replaced with new tiles and not fixed with membrane cloth, as membrane on roofs are a temporary fix and causes leaking again.
- The roofs are then washed with steel brushes and a degreaser to remove all dirt and algae before painting. We have found that this process cleans the tiles better than a pressure wash.
- All the roof ridges are checked and then sealed off with a silicon resin patching which allows for more flexibility and movement on the ridge, thus preventing long term cracking and leaking.
- After the roofs have been cleaned and prepared, the roofs are then sprayed with an acrylic sealer added to the first coat of paint under high pressure to prevent air bubbles. An acrylic sealer is used to ensure that the coating applied binds to the tiles and does not peel off.
- Once the acrylic sealer with the first coat of paint has been applied, the roof then gets sprayed with the final coat of roof acrylic.
WALL PROCESS
PROCESS FOR WORK ON EXTERIOR WALLS
EXTERIOR HOUSE WALLS
- Plastic drop sheets are placed at the areas of work to ensure maximum cleanliness.
- All areas that are not to be coated, will be masked off with brown masking paper and masking tape to ensure neatness.
- Walls then get cleaned down using an angle grinder and disc or wire-cup brushes, depending on plaster type, to remove loose and flaking paint.
- Areas where the plaster has been severely damaged due to water penetration or damp will be chopped out and re-plastered with added damp proofing. In addition, these areas get a coat of built-in fiber waterproofing to prevent future deterioration of the fixed areas.
- Areas where there are cracks also get fixed and plastered. These areas are also coated with the built-in fiber waterproofing. This is to ensure elasticity and to prevent further cracking.
- Parapet walls, concrete window sills and ledges are also sealed off with a coat of built-in fiber waterproofing to prevent water penetration which cause hairline cracking.
- Once the preparation has been completed on all specific areas, we then apply an acrylic sealer added to the first coat of paint to the walls by roller. This is to ensure that the new coating binds to the walls. Once this has had time to dry, we then apply the final coat of pure acrylic silk by roller as well, which is easy to maintain and keep clean.
- When an area has been completed, all masking paper, masking tape and dirt is removed.
BOUNDARY WALLS:
All boundary walls receive the same preparation as the house exterior walls.
